Bismi'llah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim is said to contain the true essence of the
entire Qur'an, as well as the true essence of all religions.

Meaning:

Allah:   The One Being
The Name Allah is the essential name of the One Being. Who is the Creator and Sustainer of all the worlds and the heavens.

Bismi'llah:   In the Name of Allah
Whenever embarking on any significant endeavor, we begin with this word. The objective is to realize that we should seek the help of Allah in all affairs, and be grateful to Allah for what we receive. Everything is from Allah, and given to us by the Grace of Allah.

Ar-Rahman:   The Merciful
This name of Allah is wide enough to cover the qualities of love, compassion, benevolence and generosity. It means the One who is Most Graciously and endlessly Nourishing, overflowing with the quality of Mercy, always ready to pour upon creation without any disparity.

Ar-Rahim:   The Compassionate
This name of Allah is the ever Watchful overflowing Mercy of Compassion, which is in all things and for all things. The One Who Comes to us when we ask for Divine Help. The One Who Patiently Guides, Protects, Preserves, Heals and Forgives, leading us to a clearer light and a higher life.

Prayer Flag Intention:

Oh Allah, from which all things come, in Your Holy Name pour upon our hearts, our environment, and our world, the Blessings of Your Infinite Benevolence of Mercy and Compassion that we may be Held, Protected, Healed, Forgiven and Guided to a clearer light, and a higher way of life.
